ELECTRONIC SEAL
A notary public is not required to use an electronic
seal for the notarization, acknowledgment or verification of electronic
records and electronic signatures, provided that, in the event an electronic
seal is used, the following information is attached to or logically
associated with the electronic signature or electronic record being
notarized, acknowledged or verified:
- The full name of the notary public.
- The name of the municipality and the county in which the notary
maintains an office.
- The date the notary’s commission is due to expire.
(Note: Electronic seals are not permitted until the Secretary of the
Commonwealth issues notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin giving 30 days
notice.)
Note: The use of electronic signatures under the Pennsylvania
Electronic Transactions Act are not yet permitted for use by notaries
until the Secretary of the Commonwealth authorizes their use.
