KEEPING RECORDS OF YOUR NOTARIAL
ACTS
Pennsylvania notaries are not required to keep copies
of the documents they notarize but they are required to keep and maintain
a register containing an accurate chronological record of all official
acts by the notary done by virtue of the notary’s office, and when required,
give a certified copy of the register in the notary’s office to any
person applying for same.
The register shall contain the date of each act, the
character of the act, and the date and parties to the instrument, and
the amount of fee collected for the service. Each notarization shall
be indicated separately. The register may, but need not, contain a place
for a signature of the person whose signature is being notarized.

Each notary must keep a separate register. No one other
than the notary to whom the register belongs may use it.
