One of the steps to become a Pennsylvania Notary Public is to record your notary public surety bond with the County Recorder of Deeds office. The process in Philadelphia is now streamlined... In the past, once someone recorded their commission with the Department of Records, they then went to the Office of Judicial Records to record their signature in a Register.
Now, new Philadelphia Notaries can record their official signatures with the city's Department of Records at the same time as they record their notary commission. There will not be the extra step of having to visit the Office of Judicial Records. The Records Department will now be the section in which the Notary Register is maintained.
